With Double Ruffled, our wings spread wider, and the feathers get more ruffled. Luscious, fresh-pressed textures burst with juicy tropical notes, while a balanced bitterness leads to a clean and crisp finish. Flavors of ripe mango, blueberry and bright citrus, from generous hoppings of El Dorado, Azacca, and Mosaic hops give this surprisingly hazy Double IPA a brilliant clarity of flavor.

From a 16oz can, dated smudge/10/18. Served in a tulip.
Pours a lightly hazy, pale lemonade colour with a scant finger of soft, soapy head. Retention is meh, leaving a thin collar and a smear of lacing.
Soft, subtle, sweet nose of shortcake, orange flowers and something I can't quite put my finger on, sort of like cardboard or, better yet, like the inside of a bakery box.
Taste pretty much follows the nose, a creamy orange or tangerine sherbet character with berries and vanilla cookies. Softly sweet, flowery, almost papery, low-but-not-entirely-lacking bitterness. Yum.
Feel is lightly juicy and no more than medium bodied with adequate carbonation. A clean, crisp, smooth, easy drinking beverage that goes down like a beer half its abv.
Overall, that was delicious! Every time I think I've tasted everything that the NEIPA style has to offer someone brews up something unique.

16oz can poured into a snifter.
A: Dull golden color with a milky haze that just barely renders it opaque. Pillowy white head retains well, and clumpy lacing sticks around.
S: Fresh grass clippings and that "green" chlorophyll sort of scent. Lemon zest and starfruit. Fresh pineapple juice. Watermelon rind. Pithy orange, mango, and apricot. Mildly peppery and herbal. Just a pinch of alcohol, and it actually works to add some nice complexity. Doughy grain base with a slight hint of toast.
T: Citrusy start with fresh tangerine, lemon, and ruby red grapefruit. Strong tropical notes of papaya, kiwi, honeydew melon, and pineapple too. Hops show some dimension and go herbal and peppery toward the mid-palate. Bitterness is firm. Doughy malt base with a touch of honey. Long, lingering tropical and herbal/peppery hop finish.
M: Medium-full body. Creamy in a milky sort of way, and softly chewy. Stiff carbonation lends a welcome crisp bite. Some bracing hop astringency.
O: Leagues better than the can of the 'single' version, Ruffled Feathers, that I cracked before it. The hops are far more expressive, nuanced, and showcase that nice tropical 'pop' that is the hallmark of the style. A good bit more bitter than some, but that is most welcome. It has a lot more character and focus than many other versions of the style. This competes favorably with the better examples of the style.

3/12/18...hazy semi-bright yellow, light foam with a ring. Seemingly sediment. Bright floral citrus nose. Mango too. Heavy tropical fruit flavor with oranges and mangoes at the front. Slides into a rind infused bitter. Sharp finish.

A: cloudy; deep gold in color; 1 finger finely pored white head that receded to a thick collar; very nice lacing;
S: pineapple, grapefruit, mango;
T: a fruit bomb; more pineapple and orange that anything else; mild bitterness on the finish;
M: medium bodied; light to moderate carbonation; dry finish;
O: good, but not an example of a NEIPA that I would choose;

L: Hazy, almost opaque golden orange except for the bottom of the glass which is translucent. Topped with a creamy white head with excellent retention, leaving sheets of lacing.
S: Orange marmalade, mango candy, pineapple, papaya, fruit-flavored multivitamins.
T: Tangerine, honeydew melon, green grape, mango, papaya, creamy biscuit malt. Leans sweet but is well-balanced with some orange peel bitterness.
F: Medium-full bodied, well carbonated, thick and slightly creamy. Slight sweet, but dries off on the finish.
O: A really solid DIPA!

16oz can. Pours a hazy burnt yellow with an inch of head. Some lacing. The aroma is boozey with some melon, pineapple, tangerine, mango and berries. The taste is fruity and boozey. Mango, melon, tangerine, strawberry and pineapple. Herbal hops towards the end with a minty finish. Fair amount of alcohol heat. Dry mouthfeel with low carbonation. Reminds me a little bit of Two Juicy. Overall, worth buying again.
