From a 16oz can with an illegible date stamp. Served in a spiegelau-style IPA glass.
Pours an opaque, milky-pale orange with two fingers of fluffy, merengue-like foam. Retention is excellent, leaving a heavy cap and a tattered curtain of sticky lacing.
Aroma is weird - fresh uncooked garden vegetables, notably spinach or maybe chard.
Taste is sort of similar to the aroma - neither sweet nor bitter, just earthy like unwashed, uncooked spinach and carrots.
Feel is clean and crisp, medium bodied and brightly carbonated.
Overall, well, that was different. Not unpleasant, in fact sort of oddly satisfying. Think: the rinse water your leafy vegetables were washed in. The can states that it was brewed with experimental hop strain HBC-630 which, according to a quick internet search, might be expected to introduce flavors such as [Cherry, Banana, Peach, Raspberry, Coconut] but, with the best will in the world, I simply am not tasting any of those things.

Test Pilot is so juicy/cloudy and grapefruit juice-like in color, you can see it before you pour. Peer down into the pop-top hole, and you're seeing it already. Once in the glass it is bright opaque gold. Mouthfeel is silky, you're half expecting fruit pulp. Citrus and peach flavors come in waves, with a bitter boost in a long dry finish. Exceptional.

Typical tall can from Sloop..."Canned 1/19/21" stamped on the bottom.
Moderate haze to the pour and leaves ample fine webs of lace and sheeting up and down the glass.
Stonefruit sniff, with some berries in the rear.
Pleasing offering, on the palate its more peach, apricot and again some berries coming to mind. Not my favorite brew from Sloop, but this is better then decent and worth a try.

The can says it's "An IPA exploring the outer limits of hop flavor w/experimental hop strain HBC-630."
A: Poured from the can into a Tree House tulip. Body is slightly hazy dark golden with a small whitish head on top.
S: As soon as I popped the can I could smell the hops - blueberries, limes and modest citrus (lemons, grapefruit peel).
T: Interesting. The hop profile reminds me of a cross between Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin. I get blueberries, white grape skins and white wine. Cedar. Strong chardonnay-type vibe. Finishes with surprising bitterness on the back of the palate - lemony, but with some grassiness or pine needles as well. That bitterness really lingers, presenting a very dry finish.
M: Not as juicy as the Sloop "Bomb" series of beers, but still clearly a NE IPA. Medium in heft, slightly juicy in feel.
O: Not my favorite hop profile - this one reminds me too much of Nelson hops, which I don't generally love. Still, it's a good beer and I'm not at all disappointed that I spent $16 for a 4-pack to try it out.
