This is a biere de miel that was brewed to celebrate the opening of WHYM Craft Beer Cafe in Portsmouth, NH. A saison base with Meadowfoam honey and Minneola tangelo zest and juice.
750 mL growler poured into a balloon glass. Color is hazy golden yellow with some orange hues. Not a lot of carbonation, head, or lacing.
Smells of yeasty bread, citrus, marshmallow, and earthy hops. The taste really came through as it warmed and came up to the right temperature, so let it sit for a while. Lots of fruit notes - specifically orange and lemon, with some honey sweetness, bready malt, and even some marshmallowy notes in the aftertaste. This is very easy on the palate - not too bitter, not sticky or overly sweet.
Overall this was a very nice beer. Very easy to drink but worth taking the time to savor. Looking forward to more farmhouse ales from David Sakolsky and Blue Lobster.
