22oz, Batch 22 8/23/13
Tulip

A: Pours a murky unfiltered brownish orange color. Thin layer of off white head. Sticks around a while.

S: Smells like muted fruity hops. Maybe some apricot and orange marmalade. Sweetness.

T: Don't get so much bitterness up front. But middle of the sip and back of the palate are really dry and bitter. Actually really attacks the throat. Finish is really dry.

M: Medium bodied.

A- on the lighter side for an IPA, a light orange, fairly cloudy
S- this is the beer's best feature, a solid citrus smell, not overly powerful, but a great aroma
T- starts out well but falls off too quickly, a decent hop punch in the beginning, but again it fades too quickly
M- on target with the carbonation and density
O- A very easy drinking IPA but needs more staying power with the taste

Saturated hazy orange color, slowly rising carb trails visible. An initial finger of foam that fades to a skim, though there's an intricate halo of drippy lace around the edges of the glass.

Aroma is pleasant though mild, some pale malt and vaguely citric hops, something vegetal lurking beneath.

Flavor has an odd vegetal medicinal note, tastes like the first time we tried to wet-hop a homebrew with fresh hops that were pre-boiled to sterilize them... it just comes off as weird plant matter. Seems to be a nice foundation of pale malt underneath though that lends a medium body. Moderate bitterness. Overall, not the greatest, i'll stick to Hophazardly over this one.

Poured from bottle. Pours a hazy orange/gold color with a good head.

Nice and balanced with fresh aromas of navel oranges, floral notes, tropical citrus, and hops.

Medium bodied with a solid feel, but really lacking on the mid and finish. There are good notes of navel oranges, tropical citrus, and hops on the back end.

This is a very good IPA, but it just lacks a bit in key areas. It would be nice if the feel was fleshed out a bit more.
