Big 22 oz. zombie killer. Fill it up with water & brain some walker! I shouldn’t watch so much TV. I didn’t used to. Old age does funny things to you.
The pour is supremely dark red, the delta from dark brown only evident when held up to a 100 watt lightbulb, the head falling fast & hard. Nose is a mix of hops & plums.
Big Buck – Whiskey Barrel Aged is mislabeled, ‘cause ain’t no whiskey barrel touched this beast. It is a barleywine though, so half points? I rarely compare beers but this harks back to 3 or 4 year aged Bigfoot without the rotting hop taste. Rich plums overarch, with soft notes of vanilla (is that the barrel??), toffee, & a dry, sharp hop bite on the end. Very dry. Splitting the bomber with the wife was a good call.
A solid barleywine that gets penalized for the poor advertising/execution of the barrels, or lack thereof. Pretty good brew.

Look--Deep brown with ruby highlights..
Smell-Sweet bourbon...perhaps Four Roses...definitely a bourbon sweeter in style.....richer rounded maltiness with toffee and baked breads...
Taste-A wonderful flavor of toffee, rum, oak, dark chocolate, earth, woods, baked bread and dark chocolate.
F-This is a big boy....rich...luxurious......velvety..smooth....just a light hint of dry bitterness on the finish.
O-Wow! This Big Buck lives up to its name. Compares to any of the top beers in this style. ANY! One of the best beers made in Minnesota.
