750 ml corked and caged bottle, label says bottled and corked 04/14/2017. Thanks to my buddy Denis for picking this up for me on a trip to Iowa about a month ago, he bought this at the brewery so there's still some out there. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a mahogany brown color with some reddish tints and about an inch tan head that stayed around for a while. Small amount of lacing. The brew smells like grainy malt, dark fruit, cola, root beer and some caramel. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some coriander, dark bread and some anise. There's an herbal bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and well carbonated, maybe a bit too much carbonation for my liking. I thought this was a nice spin on a saison, but wish I would have got a chance to try it fresher. It's certainly worth a try if you get a chance to, it's a very unique brew!
