Very Good
Notes: We've taken a deliciously mouthwatering porter and added a smooth coffee kick, courtest of Stamford's own, Rise Brewing Co., and their amazing Cold Brew Coffee. Rise & Shine has a full roasty body, moderate bitterness, notes of dark coffee, and rounds out with a complex yet smooth finish

A: opaque; dark brown in color; 2+ finger finely pored dark brown head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: deeply roasted grain, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate;

T: coffee for a moment, then deeply roasted grain and bittersweet chocolate; moderate bitterness on the finish; coffee comes back in the aftertaste;

M: medium to full bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: for a coffee porter, there wasn't much coffee character;

Dark ruby, medium head.

Pour was way too cold and at first it smelled just like chocolate. As it warmed, coffee and porter roughness became present.

Tastes pretty darn good. Coffee is firm but not overbearing, porter roastiness finishes it off.

As coffee beers become more and more commonplace, it's getting less and less frequent to find one that's solidly made. Hat's off to Half Full for brewing a good one.
