Draft at Hops & Bottles. Clear, bright golden thin head but leaves streaky lacing. Grainy aroma with a hint of citrus. Taste is also focused on the pale malts, more light citrus and a crisp bite at the finish. For a minute I thought I was drinking a pils.

a new lager featuring a brand new hop called pacific sunrise, i was stoked to try this, despite it being odd that the beer is named og and the hops is brand new, whatever. its uniquely hoppy in both aroma and flavor, and the base lager is good, solid, well made, simple, a good vessel to showcase the hops, i just wish it were drier, crisper, let the hops shine more in the finish, it almost seems candied, and that cant all be from the hops. its a golden brew, a shade richer than the lightest of these, but i like lightly corny sort of grain flavor, it sets the hops up nicely. the lager yeast is simple, out of the way, familiar, but doesnt quite take this to zero the way it kind of needs to. the hops are what defines this, sweet cut flowers up front, a weedy sort of hashy middle with a honey oil note, and more fruity later, passion and guava and mango, not sure how much the residual sugar is impacting my perception of this new hop. its also only minimally bitter, id like it to have a little more punch and snap, but the way this is extended through the finish is kind of nice too, especially getting to know a new ingredient. tasty beer, very drinkable, light bodied but not overly so, and with moderately high carbonation. there is a light vegetal thing to these hops, something lush like aloe too, seems fairly versatile. it works well in this lager but i am looking forward to seeing it in other styles, a french saison comes to mind, a hoppy wheat, some things like that would be agreeable i reckon...
