A small splash of European hops provide a well rounded and delicious Mexican lager. flaked maize contributes to subtle corn notes, that round out a sweet bready profile provided by Idaho grown 2-Row barley.

tasty new mexican lager, i feel like these guys have done at least a few of these now, have they not. seems there are always tweaks of recipe, name, branding, everything going on here, they have not been too consistent outside of the core stuff, but this is solid, and i feel like they have been on a roll lately. i dig the phlow ipa i had in the same session too. pretty good clarity to this, a nice golden shine, average white head from the tap, good carbonation, looks radiant and summery and clean. it smells subtle, a little corn sweetness in the nose which i love in this style, and some evidence of a proper mexican lager yeast strain too, which adds to this being appealing. it does smell like a little more of a pils type because of the grain character beyond the corn, but its light enough, perhaps noble hops, but they are subtle and in correct proportion for the style it seems. the flavor is good, true to style again, but not uninteresting, i get a little corn sweetness even though the finish, sort of agricultural and still light, while there is also a nice clean citrus note running through this, kind of limey even, could be from a saaz hop or something, but its unique because its not all at the end. enough bitterness to crisp it up, the lightly floral yeast, and nice carbonation. well made beer, good for summer, simple but solid.
