(review from February 2022) Very well balanced, tasty & smooth imperial scotch ale that drinks nothing like its 10.9%(!) with good, thick palate heft and a lighter but lovely malty-caramelly-toffeeish-sweet flavor and mouthcoating backend. Dangerously quaffable indeed!

Opaque dark brown body, tan head, sporadic lacing. Toast, caramel malt, light dark fruit and tobacco nose. Taste adds a hint of earth, but otherwise the same. Feel is malt forward, smooth and well balanced, though certainly on the higher gravity side of the spectrum. This was a really nice wee heavy with no gimmicks

Day 24 of the 2021 Advent Calendar. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a tiny off white head. Smells of chocolate and some dark roasted grain. Tastes of bright fruit and chocolate notes, nice balance. Beer is medium bodied yet easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Bought from Beermiscuous. Poured into a pint nonic. Sipped and all seems authentic, so far.
This is a re-release from a 2017 release. (57 check-ins in 30 days @ UnTappd confirms this.) BA has no reviews, so it is hard to know how Church Street improved the recipe in the intervening. But, they've done a good job.
Plaid Looks a bit dense and dark, but so do most Wee Heavies. Smells are dark fruit, but a bit restrained and only a bit above average. Tastes are well-balanced. Easily this style can get too sweet and too alcoholic in the wrong hands. But Church Street is proving themselves as a diverse brewer.
I've been following Church Street for a decade from a distance; but they are proving themselves.
