Tasted in a 16 oz pint glass from draught at Firkin on March 16, 2016. Look is clear ruby red Amber with a thin head and lingering lacing. Taste is sweet malt flavors and rock candy.

Poured from a bottle bought at the brewery. Pours dark brown with reddish hues with a very slight haze. Small stream of bubbles from bottom of glass. Tan head with light retention. Flavor is minty and roast with sweet toffee. Low bitterness. Aftertaste is spice with light roast character. No esters. Aroma is the same with roast, tofee and light spice. A good example of the style very drinkable.

I tried this at the brewery on Valentine's Day. $5 for a pint glass.

The beer poured a clear brick red color with a 1-finger creamy beige head on top. Retention was good, as was the lacing.

Pleasant caramel/toffee smell.

Bready malt flavor with with some caramel and toffee sweetness. There's a slight burnt taste as well. Earthy hop bitterness is mild, but noticeable.

Light to medium body with moderate to medium carbonation.

Overall, this is a very tasty Irish red.

Fittingly this is the March beer of the Month at Pints in Elmhurst. Served in its own marked glass, the beer is a chill hazed garnet with a beige head.

Nose of grains, a bit a caramel and hint of tobacco.

The taste is earthy in a good way. Lots of crystal/caramel malts and some toffee. lightly toasted grains and bagel round out the taste. I would like to see a little move bitterness for balance.

The mouth is workman like and gets the job down. I have had this one now three times, so I guess it falls under the "occasional" category for me.

Served in a tumbler.

Tommy James would be proud (no word yet on the Shondells)... Anyway, this stuff pours a murky rust topped by a half-finger of glowing tan foam. The nose comprises tobacco, earthy greens, and a bit of blood orange peel. The taste continues the earthy vibe, but increases the blood orange ever-so-slightly and adds in a firm backbone of caramel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a generally fluid feel. Overall, an okay Irish red, one that focuses on earth and spice, possibly partially to its detriment.
