The MickandBrick Beer Review visited Fairhope Brewery to try the King Cake Stout and both of us were blown away at how excellent this beer tasted. It was dark and creamy with an amazing smell of cinnamon and chocolate. The taste was even better then the smell. It wasn’t too rich but featured notes of chocolate mocha with a touch of vanilla. What separated it for us was that slight cinnamon king cake aftertaste that was subtle but yet perfect. We’ve traveled the country looking for the best local craft beers that represent the character and charm of a region. The King Cake Stout represents the favor and flair of Mardi Gras in a can. On draft, Loosa Brews AL.
Nice dark, viscous pour. Small head of beige foam, some heavy lace that covers the inside of the glass, but recedes quickly.
Lots of cinnamon on the nose, subtle vanilla and a good breadiness that sneaks up on you. The nose really does emulate king cake, poured a bit cold but a nice inviting aroma.
Lots of cinnamon and bakers spice. The initial flavors are good but something in it leaves a very bitter feel on the back of the palate. Tasty, with a bakers chocolate and vanilla flavor re-emerging throughout. My only complaint is the bitter finish.
Smooth, sticky. A medium mouthfeel , low soft carb, and a nice dessert finish.

Only 2x 10gal were made for a special Mardi Gras in July. Supposedly one whole king cake in each.
L- very dark brown to black
S- very sweet, pronounced king cake and subtle coffee
T- thankfully not as sweet as the smell. Very robust coffee up front, and mellows out with cake at the end
Overall, an excellently done cake stout, shame it was for this one occasion.
