This delicious red ale is the perfect complement to summer. Using our house kettle-souring method, we develop a pleasant tartness to complement the diverse grain bill. Three pounds of locally-grown, fresh basil are added at the end of the boil providing the rich aromatics for which the herb is known. After fermentation, we finish it off with over 80LBS of strawberry puree.

On Draught at the brewery
A: hazy mud brown with hints of red and straw gold, minimal head and decent lacing
S: crisp and minty, this is where the basil immediately comes though with a nice sweetness there as well, a touch of pepper in the nose
T: pleasant strawberry with tinges of mint/basil, the malt backbone here is a very welcome subtle accent
M: much more dry and less sticky than expected
O: let me be clear about something, I don't particularly like strawberries and don't think much of American sour beer, I'd say I'm more in the Belgian school, that being said this was a very pleasant surprise from a brewery that I've never had a bad beer from but never a great one either, this might be a great beer and if you can find it, try it, you won't be disappointed
