20oz pint at the Underground.
This beer appears a hazy medium bronzed amber colour, with one finger of thinly foamy, and mostly filmy dirty white head, which leaves a ring of chalky rune lace around the glass as it quickly abates.
It smells of somewhat acrid lemon peel, a hint of ginger and allspice, gritty bready and caramel malt, and further floral and leafy hops. The taste is more sassy lemon rind, crackery caramel malt, and floral, earthy hops. Simple, but certainly punchy.
The carbonation is a bit edgy, the body a standoff-ish medium weight, and somewhat clammy in its clumsy attempt at smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the malt and lemon sugary sweetness abated a tad by the lingering perfumed hop and booze astringency.
A tasty, if overly plain fruit ale, the lemon sort of integrating, and not, with the hop fruitiness. Don't think I'd want another, though, the acridity kind of turning me off after a spell.
