i dont know why there isnt shandy as a category listed here as a choice when adding a beer, is shandy not a style because its traditionally a blend? in any event, this is one of the better ones out there as far as i am concerned, bright yellow and sunny in the glass with a wonderful aroma of fresh citrus, lemongrass, and highly botanical dry hops. awesome. the base beer is pretty neat here, multigrain with some oats, a special wheat type, and quite obviously some clean fresh pils malt. the lemon profile is cool, its so distinctly meyer lemon and not a regular yellow lemon, with that part orange sweetness to it, really perfectly refreshing without being too tart or sour, the flavor is fresh and natural. the lacto sourness is clean here, and not over the top either, minerals and brine and sort of oceanic, although this isnt salted. apparently there is some milk sugar in here too, but its subtle, giving this some body but not making it sugary. great balance of flavors, i like how much grain i can taste in it, and its perfect for summer. i am a little surprised at the higher abv in this style, but the beer is smartly crafted and really different and sort of high end for a style i usually associate with cheaper beers. i liked this a lot!
