Pours as black as a double espresso, and despite the coconut, generates a dense tan head. The head recedes quickly, revealing thick coconut flakes that just sit on the surface like oily rafts.

For the first minute that the beer is poured, you get huge whiffs of coconut, but it’s dies off as quick as the head. A beer this old with ingredients this delicate tend to lose their gusto.. aromas of boozy barrel, vanilla, and little else. Doesn’t have a lot going on. Very hot on the nose.

Flavors are good if you like crazy barrel presence. The additives are dead. It’s a good stout base with strong barrel extractions of charred wood, oaky coconut and acrid bitterness.
