I haven’t had many Dawg beers in a while - too many of them have ended up ungodly sweet or infected. The problems here were unrelated to that, but still hard to get over.
This one pours a dark and syrupy looking black color, with no head or lacing.
This smells like spicy and dry cinnamon, overripe banana, and Hershey’s syrup.
I get very little barrel here, maybe some oak? The dominant flavor is unfortunately dry and scratchy cinnamon flavors - it dominates. Cinnamon forward beers in general are just not my thing. The banana is sweet but earthy - maybe a little bit overripe, but overall pleasant. A stronger and more firm barrel character could have cut the cinnamon down, or cut the intense syrupy sweetness of whatever the base was here.
This is medium bodied, decently thick, and essentially uncarbonated. It’s not an easy drinker by nearly any definition.
This wasn’t one of the best entries of this series - in fact, it was one of the worst. Why waste your time with cinnamon here?

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
