Canned 2/24/21

Imve only had a few beers from Prairie, and the sour ones tend to be pretty good. They don’t show up around here often, but when I was ordering the mixed Oktoberfest 12 pack from Half Time I was this on the site too and figured I’d give it a go. I haven’t had many sours with plums, but I do love plums quite a bit. Let’s see what it’s a all about

Pours an opaque purple with 2 fingers of red tinted head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing

Oh wow, that’s definitely plum heavy in the nose, though there’s an interesting sweetness to balance out the tartness. I’m picking up on aromas of tart plum, gummy fig, honey, toasted bread, vanilla, carame malt, and light black cherry

While it’s still good taste wise it does lose some of its complexity. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart plum, black cherry, blackberry, crackery malt, and a touch of pepper. The swallow brings notes of plum sorbet, lemon rind, bready malt, and a hint of vanilla

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a zippy beer. Finishes a tad sticky with enough tartness to keep it mildly refreshing

This one was nice. Pretty unique as far as these fruited sours go. I’d definitely get it again

Pours an effervescent hazed plum color with pinkish head. No head retention & lacing

S: Black currants & blackberries, sweet smelling

T: Follows the nose, a little tartness & dryness as well up front, Tart & salty notes mix with black currants, dried plum almost like the crack seed I'd some times get in Hawaii. Finishes dry, sweet, tart & salty with black currant dominating

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Delivers on most of the promised flavors, just no ones that are really in my wheelhouse. Like most of their beers today, I hold out out for singles, good choice on this

Bought in a sixer at HEB. Glad to see a couple sours in sixers lately.

Dry plums, no sweetness to speak of, and quite sour. Not real complex but still pretty tasty anyway.

12 oz. Can into stemless wine glass
Look: 4 finger pink head dissolves into 1/2 finger, no lacing, plum color
Smell: Reminds me of sweet red wine
Taste: Yuck, what is that!
Feel: Could not stand it mouth long enough to get a feel.
Overall: Worst I have had. Maybe it is good for it's style but never drink again.

On draft, in a tulip, at WoB.
Plum/ruby red, the color of red plums with a pink, foamy, quickly dissolving head.
Plums, currants, lemon/lime zest and tart plum peel.
Fizzy carbonation that leaves a clean tart aftertaste
A very tasty and refreshing beer that really does remind you of juicy plums

On draft. Poured out a clear, ruby color with a small, pinkish head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of plum, berries, caramel and a touch of tart lemon. Sweet plum, black currants with strong tartness and a hint of caramel.

A: Pours a vibrant pinkish purple with bright pink head. Bubbly, audible effervescence with quickly dissipating head. Leaves little to no lacing.
S: Acidic in the nose with a firm jammy foundation. Quite plummy
T: Subdued acidity with lots of blackberry and currant. Reminds me of blackberries just before becoming ripe and sweet. Tart, but not mouth puckering with prevalent sweetness. Finish is so clean it makes the beer seem a bit one-dimensional.
Mf: Low carbonation let’s the sweetness keep its hold. A small amount of lingering acidity and noticeable sweetness on the palate
Overall: Smells much more sour than it is. Dark, tart underripe fruit that is surprisingly clean. Better than expected.
