12 ounce bottle, bottling date of 02.14.2022 stamped on the glass. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with maybe a half inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. Looks like some little carrot or some other kind of floaties too, it leaves a slight film on the glass. No real lacing other than the film from the floaties. Aroma is nice, the sweet spices really hit me first, along with some roasted malt, vanilla, molasses and chocolate. Taste is close to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bread and coffee flavors. Smells a little spicier than it tastes. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, but then I like carrot cake too. I bought this bottle last month so there's still some out there, think it's aged well enough. Certainly worth a try!

Pours like coke cola, has a feel and taste like it too. There orange bits of either carrots or carrot cake floating on the top. Taste like carrot cake and a little bit of frosting and coke cola. It's a sweet beer. Not one of my favorites from prairie. If it lost the coke feel and taste it would be a higher rating beer. Needs to be more visicis and less water. I tried it. But would not get it again.

Next on the review desk is Buntastic by Prairie Artisan Ales. Two years ago, I was at a Brewfest, and the people at Prairie said they were working on this stout. I was stunned when I got my sample. A beer combined with carrot cake, seriously. I went back an hour late to sample the goodness again. Fast forward two years, browsing a store in Texas, I saw this beer again in a bottle and bought one to review.
I served the beer at 46 degrees in a KBS glass. The pour created a frothy, foamy dark brown one-fingered head with no retention. Something was left on the glass; more was needed to declare lacing had occurred. I suspect the high abv had something to do with it; however, I have seen 15 percent beer hold a head quite well. Examining the color, I am charting the beer around SRM 35. The color is dark brown, nearly black. No clarity, nothing is going to pierce the darkness. Overall the apperance is about average for this style.
The recognizable carrot cake aromas invade my nostrils with love. Nosing the glass again, I smell carrots, spice cake, medium-roasted chocolate, medium-roasted coffee, molasses, caramel, vanilla, and dark-roasted malt aromas.
The flavor is an imperial stout with a delicious carrot cake. Carrots, spice cake, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, raisins, molasses, and baking spices are what I taste.
The mouthfeel is warming and finishes dry. The body is medium-plus and medium carbonation.
I love this beer, but I have issues with it. The carrot cake is phenomenal; it reminds me of how my grandma made a carrot cake minus the frosting. It was love at first sip. My hang-up with this beer is the body. If this is an Imperial Stout, make this beer chewier, and give it body and depth. I would have given it a higher score. Tasty damn beer!

My 4th Prairie Beer. This one is definitely the 3rd of the three stouts I have had from them but much better than their Saison!!! Poured from a stubby 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, this beer features a dense dark brown color with no light coming through. A small very bubbly dark brown head appears briefly on the first pour (more a covering of the top of the glass). The head fades fast (as you would expect with a strong beer) and there is no lacing. Subsequent pours display a lighter cream colored head. Aroma and taste are carrot, pastry and baking spice oriented. There is some carrot, some cake mix, cinnamon and maltiness. Mouthfeel is rich with some alcohol warming aspects. Smooth and rich enough with no alcohol "burn". As I said, I liked the 2 other Prairie Stouts much better, but this is still not a bad brew!!!

dark chocolate color with no head in a snifter.
Very strong and pronounced flavors of carrot cake and carrot. Sweet.
MF is very light. perhaps a little more viscosity is due.
The taste is very sweet with cake and carrot cake.
this is a pastry style stout. Well done beer, but there are a lot of other beers in the style which are much better.
The carrot cake and cake flavors are not appealing for me in a stout.
Best served at 48° plus.

This beer sat in the fridge for a while before I decided to indulge. This is not my favorite Prairie beer. I cannot say it was I’ll described on the bottle. Definitely smell and taste of carrots. There is also chocolate and coconut. Some cinnamon.
Poured into a tulip glass from a bottle. Dark brown, very little head and essentially no lacing. Some small carrot bits. Syrupy and too sweet, nothing to balance this. Not something I would up again.

Had this on draft 9/29/22 @ the Hopleaf.
Black/brown appearance.
Almost no dark tan head; no lace.
This smelled...exactly like a carrot cake.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
This tasted...like a liquified carrot cake.
Too on the nose to be great, but impressive in it's mimicry.

Pours oily black with a bronze sheen of carbonated bubbles that form no head. Aroma is carrots (big time!), with what I might detect as cinnamon and chocolate, though these are not included on the label. Taste is carrots. The brew is sweet, with a noticeable ABV, and not very carbonated in any way.

While it looks headless and lumpy, it’s a sweet beer full of carrot cake and vanilla flavor. A dessert beer, but one that should probably come in singles even smaller than a regular bottle. Kind of cloying. While they nailed much of the flavor of a carrot cake with icing (there’s cinnamon in there too), it won’t be everyone’s cup, but I know this brewery does better imperial stouts.
