Poured from a 12oz bottle into a New Glarus snifter. Pours a thick and oily black with a minimal dark brown foam head. Bourbon sting, chocolate, coffee and cream cheese / cheesecake on the nose. It’s really like a chocolate covered cheesecake. Taste follows although I do get less bourbon but more vanilla and coffee. The cheesecake flavor is there but not crazy in your face. Full mouthfeel. I had my doubts about this one but am pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. I’m not the biggest cheesecake fan. It’s a solid dessert. Kind of boring but also reliable. But the addition here to the coffee barrel-aged imperial stout works. Well done.

From a bottle, poured into a beer glass.
A dark mahogany pour with a thin head, and no lacing.
Bourbon and dark roasted coffee flavors dominate.
Dark chocolate, vanilla and cheesecake permeate the flavor profile.
Mouthfeel is a little syrupy.
A good boozy dessert beer.

The pour is stout black with a dark brown head that almost covers the surface. But with the ABV, no surprise.
The taste, well, it’s a straight up pastry stout. Has the chocolate, the coffee, the bready malts that Prairie is known for and on top of that really well done imperial stout is a decadent lactose and sugar flavor that takes it into new territory.
The feel is lightly viscous, a little lighter than I expected but in no way lessened the beer.
OA, a rare pastry stout that I would be happy to drink again.

I should not have started drinking this earlier evening!
First you can smell the frosting (cheesecake), Marty flavor and bourbon. This one pours thick and syrupy. Cinnamon colored head that disappears fast. After a few sips o realize this is big bold and sweet! Something that takes a few hours to drink. Warming in the throat and chest. Taste exactly what it says. 14.9% and it's no lie. Wanted to drink it fresh and cellar the second bottle. That's exactly what I am doing. You have been warned. Plan your day or night accordingly!
