Prairie Artisan Okie Noir BA Imperial Stout, 13.6% ABV. Pours deep brownish black, with the usual Prairie meager head, even with an aggressive pour. Aroma is bourbon and malt. Taste follows, slightly sweet, faintly bitter, some pleasant bourbon burn. Decent mouthfeel, overall excellent. A nice non-add-junk BBA stout.

Solid across the board 4. Not one of the best Imperial Stouts I've had from one of my bucket list breweries but still a beer I would buy again. I love their Imperial stouts and look forward to my total wine getting a larger variety on occasion. keep the peace.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle that I bought at the Prairie Taproom in Oklahoma City, OK.

This is an attractive mahogany colored beer with a dark brown head that quickly fades. Aromas are dominated by heavy oak barrel notes, with strong roasted barley and chocolate. Overall, the nose gives a slightly harsh impression. Flavors are more approachable, with chocolate, caramel and brown sugar. The character leans more toward a barrel-aged brown ale than stout. Heavy-ish body with just a bit of lingering sweetness. There is a strong tannic bite, but any hops bitterness is unable to break free of it and become detectable. Moderate alcohol warmth is lower than could be expected from the ABV.

Overall, the beer is big memorable for its oak and tannins, but is not the kind of barrel-aged beer that I would seek out and enjoy over and over again.

Look - Pours a dark black color with a nice head that lasts several minutes.

Smell - Malt, toffee, and light bourbon.

Taste - Malt, and bourbon.

Feel - Very smooth for a 13.6%ABV beer.

Overall - A bit plain for me. I guess I prefer Prairie stouts with adjuncts.
