this beer is truly fabulous, a black currant lambic style, up there with anything i have had from belgium, and maybe the best use of this fruit i have ever had in a beer. i have been seeing the bottles around for awhile now and finally took a shot, this totally blew me away. neon pink to red in the glass with a short airy head, electric and vibrant. the nose is the best part, its seriously insane, so much wood and mouthwatering lambic funk, musty and mature, bretty in a wildly unique way, extremely drying and citric, a little astringent from the fruit, tangy and sweet at the same time, but also still with some appreciable malt in here, and just the most profound funk profile i could have imagined, so complex and lasting, like i feel it in my nose all the way down to the back of my tongue for ages, i sit there and smell it for 15 minutes before i can even bring myself to taste it, i know how good its going to be. the currants are brilliant in the flavor, fresh and zippy, acidic with the sourness of the beer, but so alive and forward, just magic. the beer drinks like some of the best lambic in the world, mellow and woody and funky and really interesting, cool terroir in this one it seems like, lots of patience, and it just hit me right. i need to get my hands on more beer from these guys, i havent had nearly enough but have been super impressed with the ones i have had. this is absolutely next level, and an early candidate for beer for the year for me so far, just astoundingly good lambic, i can still taste and feel this a day later, unforgettably amazing!
