In September 2012 we bottled the first Brekeriet beer ever; a saison fermented with wild yeast. This was the start of a journey filled with joy, sweat and tears. Now, 10 years later, we’re releasing our 10:th anniversary beer Tio.
Tio is a beer in which we’ve mixed the old Brekeriet style beers with the new. We brewed a saison and fermented it in a steel tank, followed by four months of aging in an oak foeder. Later, that beer was blended with a four year old barrel aged sour beer. Ratio 75% saison and 25% sour beer.
The result is a complex and slightly tart old style saison with the distinct Brekeriet flavors.

Pours an unclear yellow with fine head.
Smell is tart and oaky with notes of funk, peach, citrus, straw and some hints of yeast and rye.
Taste is tart with nice acidity. Notes of peppery rye, lemon, lime, peach, oak, dry white wine and funk. Soft citrus peel bitterness. Very crisp, but complex.
Muthfeel is medium with effervescent carbonation.
Overall, a terrific sour, and a suitable anniversary beer.
