To me, this NEIPA (now 7 years old) should have been re-classified as such once the NEIPA style was official. Shorthanded IPA really does lack the bitter, dryness and piney-ness of the classic American IPA. NEIPA is the second generation of the classic and Shorthanded is a pretty good one.
That said, Looks are average; not enough foam and swirling protein. Smells are the NEIPA fruit bowl, probably with pineapple leading the way. Tastes are well balanced between the malts yearning to be sweet and the hops yearning to steal the show. The finish does not fall to the lingering bitterness that, to me, undermines refreshment.
Carried from the curb at Beermiscuous... my new source of unusual and thoughtful Chicagoland brews.
As for my brewer review, I still get pleasantly surprised that there is an 8 year-old brewer in my backyard that I just now discovered. While I can't remember ever being in Grayslake, I wish Light The Lamp well in bringing brewing culture to that far-away Lake County suburb.

Tasted in a 12 ounce snifter from draft at Light the Lamp on March 4, 2017. Tasted in a tall tulip from draft at Light the Lamp on March 7, 2019. A well made and nicely balanced IPA. It has a very nice hop profile, light malt and is only slightly bitter.

Served in a tumbler.
Yeah, let's pump more Citra into the Illinois beer scene... Anyway, this stuff pours a lightly-hazy golden-brass topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises grapefruit zest, light lemon zest, mild mango, light apricot, light honey, and light pine sap. The taste brings in more of the same, with a slightly stronger contingent of pine to balance out the fruitiness. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a pretty darn tasty Citra IPA. 'Nuff said.
(I will also add that I've also had a batch hopped with Sorachi and Galaxy, which added that characteristic funky-lemon flavor Sorachi is known for, while maintaining a good deal of the fruitiness of the Galaxy.)
