Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned on 04/04/17, consumed on 04/10/17.
Look: Was scared the haze clarified at first, but after swirling the can a bit, the proteins came pouring out, creating a light orange, hazy beer. Minimal lacing. Good head retention thanks to the glass's nucleation site.
Smell: Very tropical. Hints of pineapple and mango with some fruity yeast esters.
Taste: Follows the nose, though I can't quite put my finger on what fruit flavors I'm getting from the yeast. They're very familiar though, almost Belgian in character, but without that Belgian funk. As expected from the name, the finish is juicy and creamy.
Feel: Full, but not big because of the proteins floating around in the beer. Average CO2. Not prickly, but not flat, either.
Overall: What makes this hazy pale ale stand out from the others I have tried is it's perceivable yeast character. The other hazy beers I've had had tons of hop flavor with tamed bitterness, but this one adds another dynamic I've yet to experience in my hunt for the hazy juice that everyone's going nuts about. Definitely worth a try if you're not familiar with NE-style pale ales.

Yes, I'm from New Jersey and even though I didn't grow up listening to Bruce, I did see Springsteen on Broadway late last year and enjoyed his music. Of course, when I saw this beer, I had to trade for it and put it into my queue. Canned on 4/3/17 with "BREWED IN THE USA" written above it, this was as much a New England-style IPA more than an American IPA. If you're into that, then you have a winner here and certainly worthy of being from this neck of the woods!
Not a bad pour to this as the liquid was a murky apricot with quite a bit of light seeping in around the edges. Plenty of soapy head topped it off and aside from the thin collar around the top of my pint glass, not a lot of lacing could be seen as I worked my way through this. Lots of dank hops, passion and star fruit, and pineapple in the nose as they were a bit softened in the taste by the yeast. Citrus slickness and prickly pear cactus kept me on my toes as the oats gave this plenty of body. Hard to pick out the malt here as the other notes stood out more and the carbonation wasn't too high, as well...
The amount of alcohol was spot-on and the aftertaste was a tad dry and turbid, leading me to need a shot of water to fully get this down. Exotic and somewhat unfiltered, this was a decent IPA that wouldn't win anyone over to the style but would leave hopheads happy enough upon quaffing this. Love the label and the first impression that Amplified Ale Works left on me!
