Pours murky red-brown, about a finger of mocha head, great retention.
Piney roast on the nose. Deep coffee with a hoppy edge.
Resinous pine up front with moderate bitterness. Bitter dark roast follows. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Hops are really complimentary to the roasted malt here.
Most of the Black IPAs (that I've had) focus on the IPA side of things. This lands squarely on the stut side. Pretty tasty.
