perhaps my favorite beer from our visit here, a tangerine grisette, simple and flavorful, refreshing and drinkable, but also unique enough to really stand out as something quite clever. the tangerine is really natural in this, quite robust, even running out in front of the fermentation profile, but its juicy and vibrant and summery and sets the tone for this. light haze and more body apparent than anticipated with this low abv. radiant orange color, glowing, and a very fast fading little white head. the nose and the taste here are both exceedingly fresh. subtle black pepper notes in the ferment marry in well with the zesty juicy tangerine, which is distinctly that, not orange or other citrus, its tangerine specifically. there may be some pale rye malt in the mash here too, light earthy spiciness in the middle of this before the yeast esters kick up, a nice segue from the the fruity front end. light acidity through this, some starchy wheaty body, white pepper and coriander notes, similar to some of their other beers, less funk than would be ideal, but complex enough to make this fun. could use some slight refinement at the edges, and needs quite a bit more carbonation i reckon, but i was impressed with this one, the fruit and the yeast go super well together. this place is really cool!
