Ok, just a few sides notes before we get into the facts and actuals. The Range or Marty's Driving Range is a super cool driving range with batting cages, ice cream, food and Tiki bar. Best part is, they're own concert stage and has been an excellent live music venue in our little corner of New Hampshire. Next: I'm from Keene NH and have tons of NH pride and we now have many excellent breweries here, it's come a long way in the last decade. Unfortunately 603 is not one of those excellent breweries. I wish I felt different. But... No, I just don't. Keeping an open mind on this because I love the venue and I'm hoping for the best here. Notes: Mosiac Simcoe and Chinook hops.
Look: Frosty pale golden lager with a small white foam cap. Cover stays around for a bit.
Nose: effervescent green grassy hops and very lightly malted grains. Sour/spicy lager yeast is easily detected.
Feel & Flavor: Fresh and crisp at first, then very smooth, later a bit of slickness in the finish. Those three hops should really stand out here, but alas, it's only very subtle hop tones with mostly husky, herbal effects. Grainy, but smooth golden malt overrides the balance, but the yeast at least has a spice rack kinda kick.
Overall: Mundane overall hop addition, slick finish is a turn off, and I was seriously hoping this was an exclusive to the venue for the shows coming up in 2022. Marty's has a great line up of artists this year and I'm excited to be a part of it once again!!
