For my next entry in New More Odds 'n' Sods Beer Sunday (Week 780), I am having CANother CANlaboration beer! I know that some pooh-pooh these ventures as frivolous, but I see it as just CANother aspect of the all-inclusive CANQuest (tm) where no CANned beer is turned away.
From the CAN: "Hazy India Pale Ale".
I do not know about others. but I take the word "Hazy" as a ChAlleNge! I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN perhaps the slowest, gentlest C-Line Glug of the day. Why? I wanted to see what kind of clarity it was capable of producing, especially in the assigned style. I still wound up with just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Ha! Nose was very tropical, not at all what I was expecting. It was the early mango/guava CANbination of the halcyon days of the style. This could be interesting! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste, while still tropical, had a grassy mintiness as well as a biscuity maltiness. It was moderately bitter, about at the low end for the style, but still very pleasant. I found myself licking my lips after each sip, as though there was something more to be gleaned in/by so doing. Hmm. Was I subCANciously missing something? Finish was dry, but not gaspingly so. I have no idea what they were going for in this one, but it was quite pleasant throughout. YMMV.

L - Poured a lighter hazy, orange/yellow with a small white head. Some floating particles and minimal stringy lacing.
S - Fairly decent from the can. Fruity and tropical. Best part of the beer for me.
T - Follows the nose. Orange, grapefruit and maybe mango.
F - Light to medium mouthfeel. Crisp with a dry finish. A bit bitter at the end.
O - Kind of confused with this one. The haziness actually took some time to develop (I can’t explain that). Has an odd feel for a hazy IPA (with the crispness)but it’s a decent beer overall.

Can to tulip.
The appearance was a decent looking semi-hazy burnt yellow-ed orange color. Trimmed by a small finger and a half's worth of white foamy lace, the head slid off pretty damn quick.
The aroma had a huge bitter lemon rind up front. Some pine and mango skin. Sly white cracker malt extremely light. Seemed more like lemon meringue with warmth. Light danky onion super far underneath.
The flavor yielded a danky sweet iced onion meshing with piney bitterness. Lemon rind is somewhat there. Fairly bitter in the aftertaste, pumped up lemon rind too.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair steady sipping quality about it. Definitely has a big scraping harshness like an old school AIPA along my tongue. Finish was fairly dry and bitter.
Overall, if this is a New England styled IPA, then I am nancy pelosi. Fuck her and about to say goodbye to beer if this is what New England styled IPA's are supposed to be.

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice hazy yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango), piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango), piney. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well. with a nice dry/bitter finish. L: Light, like a pilsner.. with a hazy glow. Light head, zip lacing.
S: Tropical, light citrus and light dank aroma. A bit of pine up front.
T: Light pineapple and a bit of pine up front. Very light citrus flavors across the board. After warming up just a few, the flavors drop out.
F: Not quite medium, not watery. Mildly bitter with a good bit of carbonation.

From a 16oz can, dated 10/25/18. Served in an IPA glass.
Pours an only lightly hazy mango-gold with two-plus fingers of fluffy white suds. Retention is very good, leaving a sudsy cap and scattered wads of lacing.
A powerfully aromatic nose of ripe tropical fruits, predominantly pineapple I suppose, with a significant biscuity malt character becoming apparent, lo, these six weeks along.
Taste follows the nose pretty much spot on, your fleshier, pulpy-type tropical fruits and toasted biscuit, with sappy pine coming on into the finish. Moderate-plus chinook-type bitterness.
Feel is light, crisp and drying, medium-thin bodied and aggressively carbonated.
Overall, light and enjoyable enough. Not an NEIPA, for sure, but I'm thinking it might have been a rather different beer a month or so ago, who knows? In character, it is very much a Two Roads brew and the Aslin influence is not especially evident.

Opaque golden ...very little on the nose, biscuit malty taste, certainly not a a NEIPA. Have had many beers from both breweries this one is a mild disappointment.

Pours a very hazy, but not quite opaque, medium honey golden. A large three-finger head sits atop, slowly slinking down leaving no lacking behind.
Nose is a biscuity malt base, with a whole lot of yeast action. Almost stale yeast, reminiscent of a very old hoppy beer. This can can't be hyper-fresh, but is is old enough to be stale? There's some melon notes on the nose, and a little bit of a white grape thing. Smells as though the malt will lend sweetness, and other than the melon/grape note, I'm getting very little hop expression. Just malt, and dirty, yeasty foot. Unappealing on the nose.
Palate is not much of a saving grace. Initial notes are light fruity hop oils, with hints of grapefruit, melon, blueberry, and pineapple, but this is immediately overtaken by a bitterness disproportionate to this beer's size. Despite the impression the nose gives, there's not a whole lot of malt backbone. Some crackery essence in the background, but that resinous bitterness just clears all in its path. Finishes bitter and bone dry, with a long lingering bitterness, and an aftertaste of sweat.
Mouthfeel on this is what I would describe as "watery". On par with the average American adjunct lager, with just a touch more oil from the hops. A medium to medium plus carbonation gives an added sense of lift.
Overall, I give every beer a fair review, and always try to be as generous as possible. This is just one of those rare beers I get that's just simply not good. The nose is almost nauseating with its yeasty stink, the palate is bitter and lacking in any character. The feel is light and watery. It's just poorly executed. Aslin puts out some of the best beer in the country. This is unusual, and perhaps a collaboration with Two Roads was not their best idea. I would not buy this, and the rest of this can will most likely be a drain pour.
