these guys must have hired a sales person or something. after not really seeing their beers around at all over the last couple of years, it seems like they have been more and more prevalent around the market of late. i have always liked what they do. this is a solid lager, a mexican base type, but its pretty liberally dry hopped. i think those two elements work well together, i love the mexican lager yeast with hops, especially citra and noble types like this one employs. shiny and a little darker than yellow gold in the glass, lots of bubbles rising up and a short head on top. smells a little sweet, surprisingly less crisp than i was looking for, although i think it works to bring the hops into the flavor profile a little earlier, they start early for a dry hopping, mid palate at the latest, with an obvious citra thing happening right up front, a little lemon lime soda flavor, and subtle pineapple and grass later on before a little bitterness comes in. the base lager is quite flavorful and has a little body too, the hops are nicely selected and dosed, and this drinks about right for sunny late fall days like we are having in colorado right now. it could be a little cleaner on the malt side, but i like the recipe and the execution pretty well. more dry hopped pale lagers from the locals please!
