Pours a pitch black color - thick and viscous. Thin tan head is barely ever there. Ring of thin mocha colored foam along the outside of the beer.

Smell has notes of roasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate notes with some bittering hops coming through on the nose. The coffee like notes become more pronounced as the beer warms.

Taste has notes of bakers chocolate, roasted malts, and a very strong bitter hop taste on the back end. Not much of that coffee on the nose here - no coffee in this beer. I know RIS stouts tend to have a more defined hop bitterness, but this is stronger than one would expect. The roasted malts a quite nice - I wish they were allowed to shine a bit more. As the beer warms it starts to show some anise and mint flavors as the overall flavors open up.

Feel is medium bodied with a lingering feel on the tongue. Mild carbonation - almost no discernible carbonation on the tongue. Bitter somewhat dry aftertaste.

Overall a solid RIS.

Dark black pour with ample brown head. Leaves excellent lacing down the glass. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. On taste, I get bittersweet chocolate, roast, and coffee again. A very well done, classic RIS. The finish is well balanced and slightly bitter for the style. Excellent beer!

Poured from the bottle a dark brownish-black with two fingers of mocha head. Sheets of lacing left behind.

Aroma of chocolate, licorice, dark fruits, and a hint of booze.

The taste was much bolder than the aroma. Opened with a big hit of dark coffee and roasted malts followed by chocolate, and cocoa. Some boozy warmth from the 10.5% abv in the finish.

Medium bodied and smooth with a lighter carbonation.

A solid R.I.S. from the folks at Spiteful. I'll definitely have this one again.

Bomber. Near black with thin khaki head, disappears into thin rim. Aroma is sweet chocolate and a little booze. Chocolate taste with some sweetness initially. Some licorice and roastiness in there and then a semi bitter finish. Licorice lingers. Mild alcohol burn. Overall good RIS, lots of licorice and choco flavor.

Rich, silky, chocolate notes and dark roasty flavors. Sweet but not cloying. Amazing example of what a RIS should be. I really don't think it gets better than this. Like drinking silky alcohol laced chocolate fudge mocha. Spiteful kicks ass.
