Druid City Brewing company is a shining example of the power of the proverbial bar napkin sketch, and the success that can come out of it. Brewery co-owners Bo Hicks and Elliott Roberts started getting involved with brewing craft beer about 5 years ago. After so long, the friends discussed how cool it would be for Tuscaloosa, Ala. to have its own brewery. “Eventually we just called each other’s bluff, and we made a business plan, found some investors, and we got the brewery goin,” said Hicks. Druid City’s first legal beer was brewed on November 23, 2012, which was sold at Egans. That same night Grammy nominated four-piece “Alabama Shakes” played under an alias name for the night.
After about a year and a half of brewing and completing the necessary background checks from the FBI, the Druid City Taproom opened for business on July 11. Now, Druid City can be found all across the state, and our taproom is open 7 days a week! Now that you know our story, come on down to Druid City and tell us yours. We’d love to have you.
