A - Clear ruby amber in color a with a 1 finger khaki head. Head dissipates somewhat quickly leaving a thin lacing. Thin lacing on the sides of the glass as the level of liquid goes down. 4.25/5
S - Dominated by stone fruit (dates and plums) and a sweet malt. Hint of oak as well. Reminds me a bit of a red wine. 4/5
T - There is a sweet and savory roasted malt in the beginning that is quickly followed by dates, prunes and red wine grapes. Oaky. Somewhat resembling a bourbon, while at the same time resembling a cabernet sauvignon wine. Some grassiness on the finish with only a slight bitterness brought about by the hops and alcohol content. As the beer warmed, it came to resemble a cabernet sauvignon more and more. 4.5/5
M - Smooth and viscous in the beginning, finishing somewhat dry. Alcohol shows up on the tail end but only briefly. Coats tongue with a lingering flavor but not overly bitter. 4.5/5
O - Excellent barleywine. Fruity with the earthiness of oak. Layered complexity with a multitude of flavors. Very happy I ordered this. This was my first beer from Mitten Brewing Company and it has definitely convinced me to go back and try some of their other offerings. 4.25/5
