Appearance: Poured into a chalice. Crystal yellow-orange semi-clear, plenty of carbonation activity, I had chilled mine pretty good so even with an aggressive pour the head took some time to generate, and it dissipated very quickly. Not much of a surface ring but has wonderful speckles of lace. (The head was more prominent when I poured above 6°C.)

Aromatics: Very plain - fairly yeasty with lemon zest and hints of stone fruits (apricot, nectarine, raw almond). Not overly pungent but very kind to the nose.

Taste: It has a super crisp zest - the sour is more tart than sour - like a fusion of bright lemon with a kiss of apricot. There is a slight spice pick me up in the middle and a very subtle earth bitter from the hops shows up right near the end. There is also a soft yeastiness that reminds me of fresh sourdough bread.

Feel: A good middleweight, and retains enough bubble to tickle the whole palate, the liquid itself is very crisp and clean and lightended, finishing fairly dry with a slight tang to the tongue.

Overall: Crisp and refreshing. A great balance of sour, it really delivers a consistent palate and feels so good going down. I love the brightness of the tart and the crisp carbonation a lot. I highly recommend this for the summer patio, sandy beach, or out on the lake boating with friends - a nice summer sun is a perfect excuse to give this a go.

Pairing: BBQ ribs all the way! and I could go 2 ways: 1) smoked with plenty of hickory smoke barbecue sauce, and if you don't mind the heat go for a smoked chipotle sauce. or 2) I would try a luau-style sweet sauce glazed with pureed peaches and pineapple. The sour/tart in this beer will pair equally well with either.

On tap into a tulip in Victoria, BC. Reviewed from notes dated July 24, 2016.

A-The beer is a brassy, light-copper color. It is hazy, but not opaque. The head is white and my glass arrives with about one finger of foam. There is a bit of fine lacing left behind as I drink. Some bubbles make their way up the glass.

S-The aroma is tart, but not full-on puckering. A nice lemon smell combines with hints of peach, apricot, and pine. Funkiness is light. A bit simple, but enjoyable.

T-The taste is a bit of a mess. It is somewhat grainy and bitter with suggestions of dried grass, lemon, and Pine Sol. It is definitely hopped, but something got lost in here.

M-The body is medium in heft and the carbonation is almost crisp.

O-I am a sucker for dry-hopped sours, but this guy just did not do it. The taste lost the dried fruit flavors that make this style so enjoyable. Oh well.

A: Amber opaque liquid with slight soft white head.

S: Asparagus-tinged urine

T: Orange, pineapple, grapefruit and a herbal and pine element in the finish. Some caramelesque malt.

M: Great viscosity and soft finish.

O: Great flavour and mouthfeel on this beer for the most part. As it warmed, more of the pine characteristics came out which seemed to clash with the acidity of the beer. I hope some other New World or American hops are used in this beer in the future.
