a very flavorful brew, a saison type base with blueberries and lemon zest. nowhere near as sour as so many of theirs are, barely even a little tart, and seemingly as much from the fruit and the tannins there than from any yeast element. beautiful frosted purple color on the pour, with a frothy light pink head and a rich look about it. very light on the grain in aroma and flavor to me, even there is a bit of a wheaty body here. the blueberries really lead the way, winey for a second and then really natural and juicy, accented but not dominated by the lemon zest, making the whole thing extremely summery, more like a cocktail than a beer in that sense, especially with the lemon. french type saison yeast adds a white wine layer, a soft earthy spice to counter the sweetness of the berries, and a surprising dryness at the end. possible vanilla or lactose or something here too, this has a cakey desserty vibe even though its not sugary at the end. good carbonation, lathery texture, tons of blueberry flavor lasting through the finish. unique and delicious brew, brewed in support of france for the world cup apparently, which obviously worked out well...
