Coconut Hazy IIPA
This beer is collab with Jackrabbit Brewing Company, LLC and John Fearless Company and is brewed for Cervecería Colorado’s brewer, Jason Buehler, a cherished friend, valued colleague, and accomplished brewer whose memory will always bring a smile to our face. Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (water) glass
Price: $4.49
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 15, 2021
Consumed: Dec. 15, 2021
Misc.: Collaboration with Jackrabbit Brewing; Canned on Oct. 10, 2021
Went to Windmill Farms for a sandwich and told myself I was going to casually look at beers and grab a few if it made sense. Well, I came back with a 4-pack of Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy and nine singles, including one of these. Was intrigued by this with the Coconut Hazy Double India Pale Ale. Thorn’s website called it “El Legend Coconut Hazy IIPA (8.5%). Poured a light amber semi-hazy color with three fingers of white rocky head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled coconut, pineapple, Mosaic, mango, guava, apricot, mixed berry and passion fruit. Slightly better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste was not quite as good as the nose. A little maltier than I thought it would be. In order got coconut, pineapple, Mosaic, mango, guava, apricot, peach, mixed berry and passion fruit. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, tropical finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Very good but was hoping for more. Not as much coconut as advertised. (Overall - 3.75)
