Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Monkish 16-oz. mug
Price: $3.50
From: Trader Joe’s in College Area (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 30, 2021
Consumed: Aug. 5, 2021
Misc.: Canned on June 25, 2021
Grabbed six singles and a 6-pack of Coronado Weekend Vibes at the campus First four I tried in the “Shades of Haze” series had been decent in Cobalt (3.87 on Oct. 2, 2020), Jade (3.70 on Oct. 5, 2020), Slate (4.19 on March 17, 2021) and Violet (3.81 on June 15, 2021). Untapped called this an “Intense citrus aroma with pronounced lemon notes from the Centennial hops intertwine with the bright, tropical guava and papaya flavors from the El Dorado hops producing a vivid, juicy, IPA.”
Poured a light golden hazy color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky-to-off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Very good spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled lemondrop candy, lime, Centennial, herbal, menthol, pine, El Dorado, melon, guava and papaya. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got lemondrop candy, lime, herbal, menthol, Centennial, El Dorado, melon, guava, mango, pineapple and papaya. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Not my favorite of this series (Slate), but not the worst (Jade). Closer to the latter, though. A good beer but not sure I’d need to have again. (Overall - 3.75)
