Grabbed a can of this along with eight other singles (and three Coronado Weekend Vibes) at the campus Trader Joe’s. First five I tried in the “Shades of Haze” series had been decent in Cobalt (3.87 on Oct. 2, 2020), Jade (3.70 on Oct. 5, 2020), Slate (4.19 on March 17, 2021), Violet (3.81 on June 15, 2021) and Gold (3.71 on Aug. 5, 2021). Untappd description for this one was “Citrus hop powerhouse, Citra, brings an intense tangerine character to this beer mingling with a veritable fruit bowl of aromas including mango, passion fruit, and lychee.”
Poured a medium golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy-to-rocky white head. Plenty of fast-moving bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect layered foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Liked that smell. Just big Citra, passion fruit, grapefruit, orange creamsicle, melon, mango, lemon zest, grass and some light grainy malt. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose, maybe just behind. In order got Citra, passion fruit, grapefruit, orange creamsicle, floral, melon, mango, lemon zest, grass and some lingering spice. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was better than I thought it was going to be. I think I underrated this slightly as well. (Overall - 3.75)
