This beer is practically dripping with juicy, tropical fruits, papaya and pineapple, which brazenly commingle with stone fruits flavors of apricots and plum. Notes of sticky pine come in the end for a bright finish.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $3.79
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Nov. 30, 2021
Consumed: Dec. 6, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Nov. 1, 2021
Grabbed a can of this while waiting for a sandwich at Windmill Farms. First six I tried in the “Shades of Haze” series had been decent in Cobalt (3.87 on Oct. 2, 2020), Jade (3.70 on Oct. 5, 2020), Slate (4.19 on March 17, 2021), Violet (3.81 on June 15, 2021), Gold (3.71 on Aug. 5, 2021) and Magenta (3.87 on Oct. 12, 2021). This one was described its flavor profile as “This beer is practically dripping with juicy, tropical fruits, papaya and pineapple, which brazenly commingle with stone fruits flavors of apricots and plum. Notes of sticky pine come in the end for a bright finish.” NOTE: Figured out from the can while tasting that the hops mentioned were Mosaic and Idaho 7.
Poured a medium yellow semi-clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Good-to-very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled soapy pine, apricot, stone fruit, papaya, guava, pineapple, pear, tea, herbal, floral and more tropical fruit. Would guess some kind of combo of Mosaic, Motueka and Idaho 7 for hops from the nose. Much better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste followed the nose. In order got apricot, peach, stone fruit, guava, papaya, pineapple, pine, pear, tea, herbal (it was this time that I saw the hops on the can. Duh.) Made sense with Mosaic and Idaho 7, but I would have thought Motueka too. Also floral, lemon, hints of banana and more tropical notes. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
It felt like I underrated each of the four categories here but overall I really liked this for what it was. (Overall - 4.00)
