No bottled date, but the bottle itself was manufactured in 2019 so likely 2019 or 2020 vintage
It’s been nearly a year since I tried a Braggot, and this is only my second one. I didn’t love the first one from OEC, but it was decent enough to keep me interested and this one caught my eye. Mezcal barrel aged? Sounds like a wonderfully stupid idea that could either be awesome or awful. Let’s pop it open and hope for the former
Pours a clear garnet brown with 2 fingers of light tan head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
This is actually nicely balanced in the nose, I think the mezcal really tamps down the sweetness. I’m picking up on aromas of beechwood smoke, bready malt, sweet honey, orange rind, white pepper, and light apple skin
It’s pretty similar taste wise, and quite interesting at that, but it does feel less cohesive. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting honey, lemon rind, light beechwood smoke, bready malt, and apple skin. The swallow brings notes of pear, beechwood smoke, smoky mezcal, floral honey, doughy malt, and orange rind
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in slick yet smooth beer. Finishes off dry with a nice fruity sweetness
This is super unique stuff right here. It’s an odd combination but it works out pretty well. I might have to grab a few more to lay down

Had at the tap takeover.
Light fizzy head that kicks up when you swirl it, some bubbles, murky golden orange color, sticky lacing, decent legs.
Nose brings tons of mezcal, fruity flowery mezcal citrus orange peel like, green pepper, nice sweet honey, nice floral honey underneath, hint of apple and estery booze. Mild oak barrel tannins. 475
Taste starts with a ton of mezcal again, big peppery mezcal, green pepper, flowery, etc. Great honey flavor, mild sweet with a smooth honey sweetness but dry at the same time, nice orange blossom, apple in the background, with no real booze. Finish is dry, slightly sticky but smooth, lingering mild peppery mezcal and nice floral orange honey.
Mouth is med bod, nice smooth thicker honey, perfect level of carb,
Overall best braggot ever, great mezcal flavor, peppery, great orange blossom honey, bright floral, dry but sweet honey, smooth, delicious, booze hidden well. Big time winner, need to get more of this.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a semi clear honey hue with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps. Nice lacing and sticky legs.
S - Aromas of loads of mezcal, loads of oranges, citrus blossom honey, nice light sweetness, hardly any alcohol. Easily the most aromatic braggot I've ever smelled.
T - Taste is lots of nicely sweet orange and blossom honey, sweet but yet still dry. The Mezcal is not nearly as prominent, starts strong yet mellows out into nice honey notes. Good oranges and light apples. Easily the best tasting braggot I've ever had.
M - Mouthfeel is brightly carbonated yet nice light honey smoothness. Hardly any alcohol.
O - Overall this beer was the best braggot I've ever had, by leaps and bounds. Absolutely incredible. Great Mezcal notes and orange notes, good honey sweetness, super tasty. Alcohol is hidden incredibly well. Great.
