Draft at Mac and Walt's
Light fizzy head, little lacing, murky amber honey orange slight rosy color
Nose brings an interesting barrel out front, loads of buttery oak, little bourbon like barrel juice and candy notes, base beer sweet malt, little Munich or caramel malt, soft fruity lager, little booze from the barrel, so much buttery oak
Taste brings loads more buttery oak again, fresh oak, vanilla, toasted wood, etc, fresh barrel juice, sweet malt base, toasted Munich malt amber malts, mild fruity lager, fresh sweet bourbon blends nicely with sweet reddish malts. Hint of bitterness, a little sticky finish so the dry crisp finish has been destroyed, but nice otherwise.
Mouth is med to light bod, little soft lagering, decent carb
Overall an interesting fun beer. If I was told ahead of time they were aging a helles in bourbon barrels I would have told them they had lost it. However, this seemed to work out pretty well, sweet candy bourbon and big buttery oak accentuating the sweet malts and fruity soft lager somehow. Bravo.
