Black brew with a thick than head. Aroma is on the mild side, with notes of sweet malt and coffee. The carbonation is surprisingly -- and agreeably -- high. Medium-bodied. It's dry and bitter on the palate. Mild coffee flavors are also evident in the palate. This was worth trying, but isn't something I'd actively pursue.

Thanks to JLindros for hooking me up with a can of this.
A - Poured into my duvel tulip a nice dark brown almost black hue with a good fat one finger mocha head that looks a little fizzy like cola, fades to leave a fat sticky halo with a little fizzy wisps.
S - Aromas of decent coffee grounds, lightly acrid, maybe even a little smoky as well. Light chocolate, not much in the way for 'barrel'.
T - Taste is similar to the nose. The coffee is nice, lightly nutty. That being said there is a rather strong smoke note going on here that makes me wonder if it's supposed to be here. Sure there are roast notes but the underlying smoke quality really seems out of place. It certainly overpowers the chocolate aspects, the finish is also on the bitter side.
M - Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with bright carbonation. Definitely not 'fuller bodied' and really not the creamy lighter American Stout I'm used to seeing in bottles or cans.
O - Overall this was a mediocre stout. I'm not entirely certain that some elements from here were actually supposed to be. An almost fizzy carbonation and a rather smokey acrid note on the nose and taste...yeah...this isn't something I'd want to drink again.

Draft at brewery
Big creamy foamy darker head, nice retention and great lacing, jet black color
Nose fresh nutty coffee, little earthy roasty, mild chocolate fudge, toasted malt and roasted coffee, hint of a barrel like note and just a touch of raw whiskey
Taste nice fresh coffee, mild roast and nutty fresh roasted coffee, dark chocolate cocoa and little fudge, smooth creamy base, coffee adds a little barrel and whiskey like, bitter mild spicy hops and bitter roast getting a bit to the bitter side of balance
Mouth is med to fuller bod thicker, decent carb
Overall quite nice, good base beer, barrel aged coffee actually coming through
I almost want to tank this review just for you Brian, yelling at me for reviewing it
