Canned 2020/12/05 (I think, hard to read as it's smudged), interesting added black currants to a black lager
Pours a med frothy off-white 1 finger head with moderate retention, sticky lacing, dark chestnut brown hazy color
Nose brings mostly Schwarzbier-like aromas, dark roasty malts but not overly roasty, a little cocoa, a bit of toasted bread crust, and a little fruitiness in the background
Taste brings more dark malts, a bit roasty, cocoa, burnt coffee, a bit more bread crust as well, then some bitterness from the roasted malt and a spicy hop that starts to get heavy as it goes, some bitter fruity black currant as well but very light, a bit creamy possibly some flaked oats, finishes dry and soft but very spicy hop bitter and roasted malt bitter, high bitterness that definitely goes way beyond where it should, and even gets a little astringent from it
Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, med to a bit higher foamy carb, soft and creamy lager, a bit astringent
Overall it would be a nice beer if not for that crazy bitterness on the finish, it gets too spicy and starts to become unpleasant and clashing, so really just tone the hops way back and this would be a much nicer beer
