Poured from 1.5 liter plastic bottle into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: hazy medium-brown hue with a ton of carbonation. Like the other kvass varieties from this brewery, the fizziness is amazing -- the yeast are evidently very much alive in these bottles. The head eventually subsides, but never goes away because the beer just keeps on effervescing.
Smell: bready and appley. It is not redolent of apple cider; just bread, apples, and a certain yeastiness. Not too bad if you like apples, which I generally do.
Taste: a light cereal sweetness combined with a good, fresh apple flavor. It kind of reminds me of the apple peel more than the flesh. I would not normally like an apple beer, but the mildness and breadiness of the kvass complement the apple well.
Mouthfeel: super light and airy, due to the massive carbonation. Doesn't stay long on the tongue; kind of an interesting experience. Very fizzy and refreshing though; perfect for a hot summer day.
Overall: light, airy and refreshing; sweet, but that's par for the style. Very quaffable on a hot day, although maybe not a perfect drink at all times. Still -- I'd have this again.
