Served in a tasting glass (4 oz pour). Sturdy head, deep red body with some amber. Not quite as generous with the dark fruits as others of this style, and tends toward roasted malts. Enjoyable in this size serving, even on an 80 degree June afternoon.

far and away the best our mutual friend brew i have had, also enjoyed their gose, but this one is next level stuff for a brewery who has largely under performed in my opinion. dark chocolaty brown with a red glow and plenty of viscosity evident. the head is there, as is an aroma of mulling spices and booze, along with sweet molasses and tangy citrus, its very holiday, and very appetizing. the layers of grain and spice are very well put together in the flavor, i pick up everything from dark chocolate to anise to clove to black cherry, its a roundabout way to get to an old ale base beer type of finish, but it does come around, feeling english high gravity yeasty and still just dense as they come. i like how complex it is without being muddled or sloppy, a fine example of the winter warmer style too. this doesnt need a barrel, but something fun like a spiced rum barrel or even a dessert wine barrel may take this stratospherical. if they keep going in this direction they will erase their bad reputation before it ever hurts them, this is fantastic winter beer.
