gold medal winner in brett beer at gabf this year, pretty huge advancement from a brewery i couldnt even tolerate a few years back, they have indeed come a long way, and this is excellent, hands down my favorite i had when we were in, cool to see them not only doing this, but a number of funky beers, i was impressed with most of them, this is way cool. they dont say much about this other than brett saison, to me its real mature, has great funkiness but also some tang, lemony, summery, floral, distinctive, not sure what brett they used, dont think its all wild capture or anything, but it hits different than familiar strains too. yellow colored beer, looks light and lively with an inch of white head and a sunny base, bubbly enough, some lace as it drinks. nose of wet animal, fresh hay and straw, pils malt and wheat together i think, and hints of orange, white grape, and tangelo. the flavor is fruity too, white wine, blue taffy, farmhouse weirdness but new school, this may be dry hopped with something modern, but it drinks rustic as well, pretty compelling fermentation profile, more than just a single brett i think, but id love some details. seems well developed too, nice and dry, some acidity too but not crazy, grassy, white pepper, green apple, delicious. i liked this a lot, a big movement forward for them since the last time i was in, congrats on the medal for it, well earned!
