a nice barrel fermented brett saison with blackberries and currants, ruby red hued with an airy pink head from the faucet, a ton of carbonation, and a nose that suggests it is a little less mature on the brett side than some of their best, less dry but not sweet from fruit, less funky and with a faint note of that cheesy side of brett, the oak is light and there is a vinous note, the fruit is real and well integrated, and its mouthwatering with some definite astringency from the currants if not also from the fermenting agents. the flavor is solid, juicy up front with some tang, hints of red raspberries and strawberries in play too, red wine, rose wine too i suppose, light oak tannins, perhaps a touch of saison yeast ester, and very little from the grain, even though its not overly fruity, like its kind of minimal in a neat way, which i guess is why the yeast seems a little exposed, but i like what im tasting, can appreciate both fruits, enjoy the light body and effervescence, and overall think this is a real nice pour, even if its not quite elite. its amazing how good the beer has gotten in here, at least on this bretty funky side of things, ive been super stoked the last few visits and now kind of plan to come through for a few every time i am in town, it was rough when they first opened the doors but they have it down now, cool spot too, always a fun hang. this is funky and interesting, fruit forward and drinkable, feels right for springtime.
