I would have called this one more of an English style pale, maybe a hybrid perhaps, but the malt profile is caramel and tea cakey, to me that's an English style. the hops aren't as intense either as the American versions usually are, and there is a curious source of sweetness in the finish. one of those beers that's better than the sum of its parts though, with a nice red tinted pour and a foamy head with good lacing left behind. there is a satisfyingly full body to this as well, which makes the relaxed carbonation seem appropriate. I just cant place the hops variety, its oily but it isn't bitter, and it has a long long aftertaste. not a bad beer, maybe not perfectly accurate to the style guidelines, but who cares right? its reasonably drinkable and fairly priced. better than average by a couple of points in my book.

A: Deep orange amber color; good clarity. Poured a 2 finger pillowy slightly off-white head. Laced in wide rings.
S: Crackery malt, bitter herbal hops. More of an English mild ale perhaps (please correct me if the style I chose was incorrect).
T: Very much like the nose, but the malt character is very prominent and wholesome with caramel notes. A little spicy in the middle and finished, but is well balanced.
M: Medium body. Low to moderate carbonation. A little sweet on the palate.
O: Good malt character and balance. Could use more carbonation for the mouthfeel.

The brewers are really approachable and have some great stories about starting up the business.
