Another interesting beer from Valiant. This one grabs your attention simply because of the rarely seen style of Biere de Garde. This has a great nose of dried fruits along with some spicieness. It has a flavor of sweet dark fruit as well as a malty, caramel backbone. Its has kind of a rustic mouthfeel and is fairly dry.

Pours a dark brown color. Very carbonated from the tap which quickly quiets down. Getting lots of malt and yeast up front. Best to let is sit for a little while to warm up to release more flavors. .Very easy drinking French ale , Nice malt flavors. hard to believe its over 8% . would be interesting to see this beer in a cabernet barrel.

On tap at Valiant Brewing Company in Orange, CA.
Pours a hazy crimson-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and yeast. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is drinkable but malt and grain forward in the flavor.
