2L bottle from Ideal Bakery, $1.99. 1st Polish Kvass i've tried (or seen). Kvass #13.
Also available at Andy's Deli in Chicago.
Ingredients: "Water, sugar, co2, malt extract, "synthetic lemon aroma identical to natural" (huh, interesting), acidity regulator, citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate."
BBD: 22.02.2013
Twisted off the the cap to little fanfare, nary a hiss or peep. Second glass there was a rush of escaping co2.
Clear caramel color, plenty of visible carbonation, initial fizz and rapidly fading foam that dwindles away after a couple seconds.
Big fruity aroma, raisin, berry, plum jam or preserves, vague tamarind spice. Not overly sweet.
Flavors are similarly fruit forward, more so than many other commercial Kvass brands. A mild berry tartness accompanied by raisin, tamarind, sultana, and plums.
Thin bodied with a little bit of fizz at first, which seems to ebb away halfway through the mug. Lightly sweet but also tart with a clean finish. Simple and fruity, a beverage I enjoyed. Pairs well with smoked charcuterie (suvi vrat).
